Day 27: Race for a Cure
September 27th, 2017 by Sarah Turner Davis
Tara with Christopher, Brennan, and the boys’ Uncle Tom (Davis) after running the St. Jude Half Marathon in 2012.
Race for a Cure
Here at Press On, we’re trying as hard as we can to push the boundaries of childhood cancer research. And we’re doing it every way we can! Tara Simkins, Brennan’s mother, will be running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon (her first full marathon!) with Mark Rettig, Caiden’s grandfather, on October 8th, as part of the Run for Caiden. Their team has already raised over $15,000 to be directed to one of Press On’s research initiatives.
So Tara is running her first marathon. How will you push your boundaries today? Do something that excites you today, and share your story with this email (or blog post) with friends via email or on your social media! We’d love to hear about it.
Are you a runner? Consider using your next big race to raise money for Press On. If you’re not sure how, send an inquiry to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll walk you through some fundraising options!
Christopher cheers on Mommy back in 2012!
P.S. Our goals for ACTION are so audacious they literally cannot be achieved without your help. For the entire month of September, every dollar donated to Press On ~ up to $250,000! ~ will be MATCHED for Target Pediatric AML (“TpAML”), a MOONSHOT project aimed at identifying genomic targets for pediatric Acute Myeloid Leukemia patients so that researchers can create specific, targeted treatments. These targeted ~ and consequently less toxic ~ treatments FOR KIDS are what Press On is all about! Please, if you are comfortable doing so, take just a few minutes of your time to DONATE NOW and SHARE today’s blog post on your Facebook page, or share via personal email with friends whom you believe have the passion to help us make a difference.
Thank you for supporting the Press On Fund!
