Join Us on Sept. 30, 2011
for CURE’s Press On Day honoring Patrick and Brennan

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month.  Each year, more than 10,000 new cases of childhood cancer are diagnosed – approximately 46 children and adolescents EVERY DAY.  Childhood cancer remains the number one disease killer of American children despite recent gains made for certain pediatric cancers such as acute lymphocytic leukemia.  In fact, over 25% of children diagnosed with cancer will be dead within 5 years.  Those who do survive face life-long serious side effects from the “cure” such as secondary cancers, heart defects, infertility, and scoliosis among others.  We find the current state of childhood cancer treatment simply unacceptable.  With your support, we can change how children with cancer are treated.

On September 30, Press On to CURE Childhood Cancer will be highlighted in CURE Childhood Cancer’s CURE’s Kids Conquer Cancer One Day at a Time, an initiative to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer.  Press On supports research into novel and less toxic therapies for neuroblastoma and acute myeloid leukemia, two deadly pediatric cancers.  Press On is inspired by two special little boys who are fighting for their lives against pediatric cancer, Patrick Chance and Brennan Simkins.  You can learn more about their inspiring battles and Press On at www.pressonfund.org.

On September 30, we are asking retail businesses to host a Press On Day by donating a percentage of sales to Press On or allowing customers to “round up” their purchases to the nearest dollar or more for Press On as well as by placing donation baskets in their store.   Schools and non-retail businesses can participate by hosting dress down days or other events to promote awareness and raise funds for research.  Kids and families can participate with lemonade stands, cookie sales, and donation requests.  Our goal is to honor Patrick & Brennan and to match last year’s remarkable achievement of raising $100,000 which enabled Press On to fund life saving and less toxic research. We would love for you to join us in meeting this goal.

To help streamline this process, CURE has set up a dedicated link at www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/patrickchanceandbrennansimkins If you wish to donate by check, make payable to CURE and include Patrick Chance and Brennan Simkins’ names on the memo line of the check. All donations via check will be added to the Press On’s Firstgiving page:
